What have you done, King Olav Tryggvason!

What have you done King Olav Tryggvason

What have you done, King Olav Tryggvason!
What powers did you serve?
Was is money, was it power, was it greed?
You cut the connection that we had

What have you done, King Olav Tryggvason!
Give us back our heritage!
Give  us back our legacy
Bring us back what you stole from us!

What have you done, King Olav Tryggvason!
you’ve been cutting in the roots of Yggdrasil, the sacred tree
you’ve hurt our soul
In the name of God
In the name of Christ
The wound in our hearts is deep
The wound in Yggdrasil is too
What have you done, King Olav Tryggvason!

What have you done, King Olav Tryggvason!
it’s hard to forgive, it’s hard to forget
we remember what you have done, we remember, we remember
remember our heritage
remember our legacy
remember who we are
remember the roots
remember the trunk
remember the branches
remember the leaves
remember the whole of the tree called Yggdrasil
The world tree, remember all

you tried to cut the roots of Yggrdrasil, the sacred tree
It was not in your power, never will it be , ever will you fail,
ever will you fail
You have done wrong King Olav Tryggvason!

King Olav Tryggvason what have you done?
It was not our tree you’ve cut
it was not our roots you’ve touched
We know your name, we know your game
The children of Heimdal take care, take care of their own
the sacred tree will flower, flower once again
Son of Odin , Balder will return
their sons and daughters, they will rule
under the daughter of the sun they will
The daughter of the sun will shine
After all she shall shine
She shall shine for all, the sun
There is nothing that you could have done, there’s nothing that you’ve done
King Olav Tryggvason
After all, after all
It’s the sun that shines for all

12 - 06-2013, Pieterburen, Skald Aswind/ Philip van der Zee,  written partly in the car driving back from Karmoy to Holland. In Karmoy King Olav Trryggavson and also on other places has killed many runemasters and other people that did not want to be baptized. He spread the Christian faith with the sword and a lot of bloodshed We have been telling stories, making music on the island closeby he let a lot of people be drowned... this poem is inspired on that place and what happened.
